AFG 2008 Conference
Climate, commerce and communities
19 - 22 October 2008
Held in Albury's magnificent convention centre, the 2008 biennial Australian Forest Growers Conference was informative, challenging and entertaining for all delegates.
Albury-Wodonga boasts a wealth of forestry. The two local branches of AFG that hosted the conference in spring 2008 have well over 100 members, combining landholders of small mixed-species farm forests with owners of larger integrated hardwood and softwood forests.
The region supports high and low rainfall plantations as well as major processing facilities that produce sawn timber, plywood, engineered panels, Kraft pulp and newsprint. Spanning the mighty Murray River, Albury-Wodonga is the hub of a vibrant region, offering visitors stunning natural landscapes, gourmet food and wine, rich historical sites, world-class sporting facilities, and a dynamic arts and cultural scene.
